I just saw this...even I never remember to check the blog any more!

Nice pictures...that's a good sponsorship shot. Can you get a color version? We ought to put it here on the blog somehow. I looked through the Herald Web site and didn't find it anywhere.

Nice work Scott! Amazing feat, nice to see that it came together for you. We're going to miss you out there for the Hampshire 100k, but I suspect you need a good dose of R&R. I wanted to put the RI 1/2 Ironman on the schedule this year, but couldn't put it together. I'm going to make it one of my main priorities next year, so I hope to see you out there for that.

Still no 45+ GC but here's what I come up with...

1. Buben
2. Beamon
3. Morse
4. Kimball
5. Clapper
6. Melnychenko
7. Mosher
8. Piergentili
9. Quintero
10. Willingham
11. Prescott
12. Cunningham

That's where I stopped counting...

Side note I forgot to include...during the road race I caught up on the news from Ithaca with Andy Melnychenko. I used to ride/race with him when we lived there 20 years ago, even though he was a baby-faced twenty-something then, and I had hair. He's more into competitive canoeing than cycling now, and he also did the whole race in the big ring (50 tooth though).

Rode over from home then did the 45+ and 40+. Alone in the first race, but Wade and Paul were in the second. Felt a little pokey in the first race, but better in the 2nd. Even threw down an "attack" about halfway through the 40+. This means, of course, that I went to the front and strung out the field for oh...about 2 seconds. Still getting used to my new bike position, but feeling better every day.

Good job to everyone in the later races. I was still there socializing with the Keltic crew during the 35+ race, and Gary looked strong in the break.

Not much to add but glad everyone was OK. I decided to make it a training day and rode to/from plus the racing for about 75 miles. Felt good in the 40+...made a couple moves towards the front but mostly just tried to stay out of trouble.

We had just passed 6 to go in the 30+ when the crash happened. I saw Zane (I thought it was Gary on the ground), then looked up and 10 yards past where he was it was a mass of bodies and bikes. I tried to slow down and roll past but, the riders just kept tumbling and there was nowhere to go so I stopped. In my mind I was thinking "No problem. I'll just cruise easy to the pit, take a free lap, and be back in for the finish." Spike was there too and it was he who told me it was Z. not G. that went down. Then my brain engaged and I realized that in the first race there were no free laps at 8 to go. D'oh! Sure enough...when I got to the S/F and asked, the official said no free lap...we were a lap down. I thought about continuing, and did another lap but...no dice.

I was actually happy I didn't have to stand around for 20 minutes then try to do 2 hot laps with everyone else. My legs were cramping just thinking about it.
